We have made a significant progress in science and technology to the extent of saving lives and making it better for humanity. Despite we have hooked on to the traditional, outdated, social norms dragging us back to dark ages.
We have maintained inequalities as in the rich and poor, caste, religion, gender which is plaguing us till now in modern era. No matter how we see ourselves progressive we are so mean within. We see inter-caste marriages as a great deal which otherwise should have been so normal and okay. We see terrible arguments on caste systems, men are patriarchal diseased.
We have not moved on when it comes to equality throughout mankind. Outdated laws, policies within the family and society which push us through the dark ages.
With all so rooted to the core the political classes have never grown out of this hierarchy, they further moved us away, they are slow to adapt, great innovations are alien kind, inefficiencies of the governance are idolised as the right things to do. The more harm the policies of the political class has done was never done by anyone else - pushing us in dungeons of stupidity. The political class has taken advantage of the people who are still hanging on with traditional belief systems, exploited them and contributed at large to stalling our social progress. They should have reimposed equality in us but acted otherwise to get their mean priorities fulfilled rather than thinking of larger cause.
Above all, the environmental concerns were not given its due importance which is threatening the whole existence of our race. We are a danger to the planet earth itself. The times of Covid lockdown has shown significant improvement in the nature. Blessed are those days when nature has somewhat revived and showed clear signs:
WE ALL SHARE THIS PLANET, AND WHILE NATURE CAN EXIST WITHOUT US, WE CANNOT EXIST WITHOUT NATURE – AS WEALTHY AND DEVELOPED WE MAY BE. THIS IS NAKED TRUTH.
We are so pathetic that we don’t realise it yet. I say this because even we have plenty of examples, we never learn to be a good social animal with the planet. As Barrack Obama says "We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change and the last generation that can do something about it ".
We left behind critical thinking, empathy towards our fellow creatures, which we depend on to keep this planet healthy. We need plenty of work on these lines no matter how, it is emergence need that we get our minds together and work. Give innovation and technology a chance to recuperate the mother earth. Prioritise eco-friendly practises and sustainable development with no compromise whatsoever. Hope.
We continue to ignore our social responsibility and hence I call it an antiquated version of the world as we are not growing enough. Would like to close with the Poem of William Wordsworth.
The World Is Too Much With Us
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;—
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathèd horn.
