We have come so far,
through time and trials,
facing unseen enemies—
polio, measles, relentless plagues.
Yet, we conquered them,
armed with knowledge,
with vaccines that raised our chances,
turning fear into survival.
But then arose
a foe beyond cure—
human greed, swollen with ego,
hungry for power insatiable.
No medicine can mend it,
no remedy can soothe it.
Wars waged for nothing,
leaving children in the crossfire—
those yet to be born,
those who have just arrived,
those dreaming of tomorrow.
And still, the powerful remain unmoved,
while those who long for peace
pay the price with their lives.
For war feeds the hunger of the few,
while the many are left in ruin.
We live in modern times,
and yet, we stand helpless.
