We often get caught up in trying to understand why someone hurt us…
Even after we have communicated that what they did hurt…
With no sign of them wanting to take accountability or repair.
We invest so much energy into analyzing their motives, actions, and behaviors.
We believe that if we can just make them understand the depth of our pain or why their actions were so damaging…
We’ll find some sense of resolution.
We think that if they acknowledge their wrongdoing or apologize in a way that feels sincere…
We can move forward.
But, what we don’t realize is that in doing so, we are giving away our power and delaying our own healing.
The truth is, most people who cause us harm either aren’t capable of fully understanding the impact of their actions…
Or simply aren’t willing to do the emotional work needed to acknowledge it.
Waiting for them to validate our pain or explain their reasons for causing it, keeps us tethered to their actions…
Prolonging our suffering.
We end up stuck…
Hijacking our own healing journey…
In the hope that they will offer something they may never be able to give.
Healing comes when we shift the focus away from them and back onto ourselves.
It’s not about getting closure from the person who hurt us, but rather about finding closure within ourselves.
We have to let go of the need for explanations or validation from others and instead take responsibility for our own emotional well-being.
By doing this, we reclaim our power and allow ourselves to heal on our terms…
Free from the weight of someone else’s actions.
Healing is a journey we take for ourselves, not something we need permission or understanding from others to begin.
It’s hard but…
It’s worth it
